Torrid nights ahead as heatwave continues: Alicante weather outlook August 5-7

Daytime temperatures will remain in the mid-30s in Alicante province throughout the weekend

Torrid nights ahead as heatwave continues: Alicante weather outlook August 5-7
Much of the Valencian Community has remained on high alert for scorching temperatures all week, with Xàtiva recording a sweltering 42.9ºC on Wednesday August 3. And even though the mercury will dip ever so slightly over the coming weekend, Aemet has warned of a few more sleepless nights ahead with the thermometers remaining above 25ºC in Alicante.

Friday August 5 will be mostly clear with intervals of high cloud in the afternoon. A loose variable wind from the south-east will do little to lower the temperatures, which will hover around the mid 30s across Alicante province.

Minimum and maximum temperatures on Friday:

Alcoy: 20ºC min; 35ºC max
Alicante: 25ºC; 33ºC
Denia: 23ºC; 34ºC
Elche: 23ºC; 35ºC
Orihuela: 22ºC; 35ºC

The temperatures will remain largely unchanged on Saturday August 6 and coastal areas will be slightly cloudy until noon. The night will be a little cooler in Alicante and elsewhere, in Castellón, scattered showers accompanied by an occasional storm are forecast.

Minimum and maximum temperatures on Saturday:

Alcoy: 21ºC min; 34ºC max
Alicante: 24ºC; 34ºC
Denia: 23ºC; 34ºC
Elche: 22ºC; 35ºC
Orihuela: 22ºC; 35ºC

Sunday August 7 will begin mostly clear but clouds will develop in inland areas towards the afternoon which could bring some scattered showers and even brief storms later in the day.

Minimum and maximum temperatures on Sunday:

Alcoy: 21ºC min; 34ºC max
Alicante: 24ºC; 33ºC
Denia: 23ºC; 35ºC
Elche: 22ºC; 35ºC
Orihuela: 22ºC; 36ºC
