ARCHIVED - Torrevieja Festival of San Emigdio: August 4 to 7
Parque de las Naciones in Torrevieja will host a programme of music and entertainment
Torrevieja will host its traditional Festival of San Emigdio – the town's co-patron saint and protector against earthquakes – from August 4 to 7 following a two-year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic.
The Association Plaza del Calvario, in collaboration with the Town Hall's Fiestas Department, has put together a four-day programme of music and entertainment which will be held at the Parque de las Naciones.
The festivities will kick off with the opening of the 'Barraca Popular' (outdoor music) on Thursday August 4 at 9pm, followed by a performance by Torrevieja's Sould Dance Academy and a mammoth raffle.

The rest of the line-up is as follows:
Friday August 5, 9pm: Musical group performances and raffle.
Saturday August 6, 7pm: Children's entertainment event with a free snack for all youngsters who attend. This will be followed by live music and a raffle.
Sunday August 7, 8pm: A Eucharist will be celebrated in honour of San Emigdio at the Chapel of San Emigdio inside the park after which a solemn procession with the image of the co-patron saint accompanied by music courtesy of the Musical Society 'Ciudad de Torrevieja - Los Salerosos'.
The procession will make its way along calles San Policarpo Street, Bilbao, Santísima Trinidad, Barrio Molinos, Plaza del Calvario, calles San Emigdi, José Hurtado Romero San Policarpo before returning to Parque de las Naciones.
The festivities will close with a firework display.
