Torre Pacheco bypass undergoes major road works to prevent flooding
€3.8 million has been invested in the RM-313, commonly known as the Torre Pacheco Northern Bypass

Earlier this week, Pedro Ángel Roca, the Mayor of Torre Pacheco, joined Jorge García, the Regional Minister for Public Works, to inspect ongoing improvement works on the RM-313 highway, also known as the Torre Pacheco Northern Bypass.
Backed by a €3.8 million investment from the Regional Government, the project is now 60% complete. Once finished, it will significantly enhance the road’s drainage system and surface quality, benefitting more than 1.8 million drivers each year.
"The project involves a complete reconstruction of the road surface to improve user safety and comfort, as well as improving drainage to increase the capacity to filter rainwater and prevent runoff from flooding the roadway, thereby reducing the risk of road closures and protecting nearby properties," Mr García explained.
The project includes the installation of two drainage frames next to the El Jimenado roundabout, which will increase drainage capacity by 610%. In addition, a lateral channel measuring 2.5 by 1.5 metres will be built, and a one-metre diameter drainage structure will be replaced with a frame measuring 4 by 1.25 square metres. This project will increase drainage capacity at the Balsicas and San Javier intersections by 650%.
Mayor Roca expressed his gratitude for the minister’s visit and noted that this project is just part of a broader investment in the local road network.
"The conditions of this Northern Bypass are improving, as has the RM-F26 and the Camachos road, which connects Balsicas with Los Alcázares," said Mr Roca, referring to other recent upgrades that represent an additional €568,000 in public investment.
