Three dangerous Italian mafia members caught in Marbella, Spain

The National Police have arrested the gang leader, his son, and his son-in-law on accusations of murder and drug trafficking offenses

The National Spanish police have arrested three Italian fugitives in Marbella, Spain, who are linked to the mafia and wanted in their home country. The three men were subject to three European arrest warrants for extradition. One of the three men is also believed to be wanted for murder and arms trafficking.

The National Spanish Police said in a statement that the the three men were considered to be extremely dangerous by the Italian authorities. The police operation was carried out in Marbella with the help of the Italian Polizia di Stato.

The National police first became aware of the threat when it discovered one of the members of the dangerous clan was working out of Spain. The man was wanted by the Italian authorities for money laundering and receiving stolen goods. The mafia member had fled his home land because he was wanted by the Italian Police.

In addition, it was suspected that two other members of the clan, the leader's son and son-in-law, could be found living with the wanted man in Marbella. Both of these men were also wanted by the police because of serious crimes they had committed back in Italy.

The son of the clan leader was in fact wanted in Italy for attempted murder and arms trafficking, after firing several shots at a person with the intention of killing them.

The son-in-law of the leader may himself face 20 years in prison for drug trafficking and tobacco smuggling. He would distribute his goods in various Italian cities through the network provided to him by the criminal organisation based in Saint Giovanni.

The family clan were eventually located in a housing estate in the town of Marbella. The three men apparently never left their house and they had installed self-protection measures in the house. These measures made it extremely difficult for the police to arrest the three men.

Finally, however, the son of the leader of the clan left the house to make a number of distraction manoeuvres with the intention of detecting the police presence. He headed into a central area of the city however and it was here he was arrested by the National Spanish Police.

Following this arrest however, the police feared that the other two men would seek to flee and so they kept a close eye on the house and the surveillance was increased. This past Sunday the two men were finally arrested as they tried to leave their home.
