There is a shortage of rental properties on the Mar Menor Golf Resort for this summer
Increasing tourist numbers mean the popular Murcia resort is a great place for property investment by those looking to rent out holiday apartments
There are not enough properties for short-term lets on the Mar Menor Golf Resort to accommodate the rise in the number of tourists, according to the estate agents at Murcia Golf Properties.
The property company on the resort has revealed that, given how busy the holiday rental market is, there is a shortage of homes available for holidaymakers to rent out when they visit.
In the first quarter of 2023, 159,003 foreign tourists visited the Region of Murcia, 26.8% more than in the same period of 2022, and January-March isn’t even the busy tourist season.
Murcia is expecting a massive rush of tourists this summer, and these visitors – most of whom come from the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Germany and Scandinavia – are spending around 23.7% more than they did last year.
They also stay in Murcia for longer than anywhere else in Spain, with the average length of stay being 11.63 days, much longer than the national average (7.84 days).
These tourists come looking for a nice beach holiday and a chance to play a bit of golf on some of the Region’s world-class golf courses, which is why the Mar Menor Golf Resort – ideally situated near the beach with its own 18-hole golf course – is one of the top destinations for foreign visitors.
But with the boom in tourism, it’s not surprising that there is a shortage of rental properties for the summer on the resort.
According to Murcia Golf Properties, this situation actually represents an investment opportunity, with anyone looking to make some money from renting out holiday villas and apartments to tourists able to take advantage of affordable homes for sale from the bank.
However, there are not many of these properties left to buy up thanks to a reported pre-summer spike in the sales of villas and apartments on the resort.
“The bank only have a few apartments left for sale,” they say, “so if anyone wants a bargain they should contact us now.”
