The outdoor Museum of the Air in San Javier
The Museo Aeronáutico Tiflológico in Santiago de la Ribera is fully adapted for the visually impaired
The “Museo Aeronáutico Tiflológico” on the Explanada Barnuevo in Santiago de la Ribera is a new open-air facility which is fully accessible for everyone and adapted to people with impaired hearing and vision, providing information through both sight and touch.
San Javier has for a long time been closely linked to aeronautics, the first airfield having been created in 1920, when the Spanish Navy decided that its first airbase should be located in Santiago de la Ribera, This became the operational centre of the Navy’s aeronautical wing and after the Civil War, in July 1943, the “Academia General del Aire” officers’ training school was established in the military facilities of San Javier.
