The Iberian oven is firing up this weekend: Spain weather forecast July 2-5
Spain is bracing for another heatwave as temperatures push past 40°C this weekend

Average temperatures expected across Spain on Saturday July 4
July has wasted no time making its presence felt, with much of Spain already sweltering under high temperatures and the mercury set to climb further still as the weekend approaches.
A new heatwave could be on the way from Sunday, driven by a persistent high-pressure ridge settling over southwestern Europe and triggering what forecasters call the "Iberian oven" effect.
Thursday July 3

A largely stable day across the country, with clear to partly cloudy skies for most. Cloud may build over higher ground in the southern half of the country during the afternoon, bringing the chance of isolated thunderstorms in some areas.
Temperatures will be rising across the northern third of Spain while dipping slightly in the southeast and the Balearic Islands.
Friday July 4

Very high temperatures are expected across the southwest and northeast of the country, with western Galicia's low-lying areas also seeing notable heat. The Guadiana and Guadalquivir valleys and western Andalucía will see the most intense conditions, with weather warnings already issued for those areas. Otherwise, stable and largely sunny across the country.
Saturday July 5

Another stable day with clear to partly cloudy skies across most of the country, although the Cantabrian coast will see cloudier conditions through the morning thanks to Atlantic influence. Cloud may build inland during the afternoon with isolated thunderstorms possible in central areas.
Temperatures will push to 37-39°C across much of the peninsula, with the Guadalquivir Valley and Extremadura potentially hitting 39-41°C by the afternoon.
Sunday July 6

Mostly clear skies or light high cloud across almost the entire country and the Balearic Islands, with very little chance of any showers. Temperatures will continue to rise across the northern third of the country, with a potentially significant jump in the upper Ebro Valley and Navarre. The rest of the country will see little change or slight increases in overnight lows.
