The award for the best cheeseburger in Spain has been won by a Murcia restaurant. At the second annual edition of the national Burger Championship in Spain, the ‘El Panzas’ burger made by the FBI (Freak Burger International) restaurant in Murcia city claimed first prize.

 

Located on Calle Periodista Encarna Sánchez in the Region’s capital, the restaurant’s winning burger is made with 200 grams of Murcian chato beef marinated and gratinated with Mild Red Cheddar cheese, tomato, leek coleslaw, topped with ñora sauce and smoked paprika pearls and roasted bacon.

 

Based on opinions from the public, as well as that of expert burger chefs, the Spanish Burger Championship awards prized for burgers in different categories. The overall winner was the ‘Double Smashed Burger’ at the Madrid restaurant Junk Burger, while the FBI restaurant in Murcia got first place in the cheeseburger category.

 

Last year, the restaurant was a finalist with another of its elaborate burger creations.

 

Several hamburgers created in the Region took part in the second edition of the competition. Specifically, seven burgers competed to be the best in Spain: La Pepita Burger Bar from Murcia, Gran Kajuna Burger from Murcia, Black Label Urban Grill from Murcia, Vacania Burger from Las Torres de Cotillas, Amazonia from Murcia and Cartagena, Steak Burger from Murcia, and FBI Freak Burger International from Murcia, which finally won the prize for best cheeseburger.
