Temperatures shoot up to 38 degrees: Alicante weather forecast July 16-19
The mercury will fall in Alicante province at the start of the week before skyrocketing on Thursday and Friday

Average temperatures on Thursday
The beginning of summer has been much milder than the last two years, but the heat is getting ready to sink its teeth into the province of Alicante. This week, we’ll be faced with several rapid-fire changes in the weather: first, there’ll be a couple of days to catch our breath as the mercury drops by several degrees throughout the Valencian Community and there’s even a chance of some rain.
But as we approach the weekend, the thermometers will shoot up again, touching the 40ºC-mark in certain parts of the province.
This Tuesday July 16, the sky is expected to be mostly clear or slightly cloudy, with overcast intervals along the coast in the morning and in the north of Alicante in the afternoon. Inland, daytime cloudiness will increase in the afternoon as well, but there will be no chance of rain.
Tuesday night will be slightly warmer but the big change will be in terms of the maximum temperatures, which will drop by 3 to 6ºC compared to Monday.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Tuesday
Alcoy: 22ºC to 33ºC
Alicante: 24ºC to 32ºC
Dénia: 24ºC to 30ºC
Elche: 24ºC to 34ºC
Orihuela: 24ºC to 35ºC
More change is afoot on Wednesday July 17. The day will begin partly cloudy and there’s a chance of light showers in the Marina Alta region, with some haze forecast in the south.
Daytime temperatures will continue to fall in southern Alicante.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Wednesday
Alcoy: 20ºC to 32ºC
Alicante: 24ºC to 30ºC
Dénia: 23ºC to 30ºC
Elche: 22ºC to 32ºC
Orihuela: 23ºC to 32ºC
Thursday July 18 will start off in a similar vein, although the cloud cover will increase in the south during the afternoon. Day-time temperatures will take a dramatic upswing, and the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts that inland areas like Alcoy could record values as high as 37ºC.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Thursday
Alcoy: 20ºC to 37ºC
Alicante: 23ºC to 31ºC
Dénia: 22ºC to 32ºC
Elche: 21ºC to 34ºC
Orihuela: 22ºC to 35ºC
The mercury will continue to creep up on Friday July 19, increasing by another couple of degrees compared to Thursday.
The sky will be partly cloudy with overcast intervals inland, where scattered showers or occasional dry storms are not ruled out.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Friday
Alcoy: 24ºC to 38ºC
Alicante: 26ºC to 34ºC
Dénia: 23ºC to 34ºC
Elche: 24ºC to 36ºC
