Teatro Victoria, Blanca
The Teatro Victoria is a focal point for cultural events in Blanca
Blanca has a full theatrical facility in the form of the Teatro Victoria, which has 400 seats as well as an exhibition hall and was built during the 1940s.
In the first years after it opened to the public some of the most famous theatrical companies of the time performed on its stage. This included a wide variety of theatrical genres; drama, comedy and even Zarzuela, the Spanish light opera typical of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and the performers came from all over Spain.
On top of this, Blanca also had its own local company, made up of boys and girls between the ages of 13 and 18, who put on Zarzuela productions of their own.
The building was extensively reformed and restored at the end of the 1990s, with a million euros being invested in the work overseen by the architect Juan García Carrillo. The renovation was completed in 1999, and the re-opening on 24th April of that year was attended by local and regional dignitaries including the President of the regional government.
Since then the second era of the theatre's history has featured a whole host of dramatists and artists, and film showings and art exhibitions have also been held inside.
