Sunny spells bookended by rain: Spain weather forecast April 17-20
Spain is set to experience the weather of all four seasons over the coming Easter weekend

Weather outlook on Easter Sunday, April 20
Easter 2025 is shaping up to deliver the classic unpredictability of a Spanish spring, with a weather forecast that spans from wintry chills to spring warmth and back to rain again. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has forecast a huge mix of conditions for the upcoming Easter holidays, beginning with a cold and unsettled spell, a brief respite of fair weather and a return to rainfall as a new storm system approaches.
The shift began on Wednesday April 16, with the arrival of a polar air mass that dragged temperatures down to wintry levels and brought widespread rain across much of the country.

Weather outlook on Holy Thursday, April 17
Holy Thursday, April 17, is expected to offer the most stable and pleasant weather of the week. While it won't be entirely dry, as showers are forecast for parts of Galicia and the northwest, with possible rainfall extending into Cantabria, the Pyrenees, western regions and parts of Andalucía, it will give us a bit of a break from the heavier rain seen earlier in the week.
Temperatures will begin to climb, especially in the south, where spring-like conditions will return and highs could exceed 25ºC. However, the Pyrenees may still see snowfall above 1,000 metres in the early hours of the day.

Weather outlook on Good Friday, April 18
A new change is expected on Good Friday, April 18, as another Atlantic front begins to sweep in from the northwest. This will bring heavy rain to Galicia and the Bay of Biscay coastline, which is likely to spread across much of the country throughout the day, though the Mediterranean coast is expected to remain mostly dry.
Looking ahead to Holy Saturday, April 19 and Easter Sunday, April 20, the forecast becomes increasingly uncertain. Aemet suggests that "it is most likely that instability will continue and temperatures will drop."

Weather outlook on Holy Saturday, April 19
Should current weather models hold, widespread showers are expected across much of Spain, particularly in the northern half of the country, where the rain could be more intense and accompanied by thunderstorms in the northeast.
