Sudden change in weather conditions this weekend: Murcia forecast April 9-12

It’s due to be a bit of a rainy Saturday and Sunday for Murcia

After a nice, warm and sunny week in southern Spain, the Region of Murcia is due for a bit of a shock as dark rainclouds bring a sudden drop in temperatures this weekend, according to the weather forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

Still, no weather alerts have been issued and the rain should be strong enough to keep us indoors and help keep our water reserves nicely topped up, but not strong enough to cause any damage. And luckily, it will be short-lived, as the sunshine returns from next Monday.

For Thursday, the weather forecast is for calm, sunny conditions across the entire Region, and temperatures reaching up to highs of 21-25ºC along the coast by mid-afternoon, and 24-27ºC further inland.

Friday April 10

These temperatures are forecast to rise even further on Friday, up to maximums of 29ºC in central areas like Murcia capital, Molina de Segura and Alhama de Murcia, while minimums at night will be around 9-11ºC in the north of the Region, 13-14ºC in the central strip and 14-16ºC along the coast – and even as much as 18ºC in Águilas!

However, that all changes on Saturday when heavy cloud cover descends on Murcia, covering the entire Region and bringing rain to the northwestern municipalities and the southwest in the morning, extending to Cartagena and the Mar Menor area by the afternoon and the rest of the Region by the evening.

This will also be accompanied by a drop in temperatures of a couple of degrees across the board, though it won’t exactly be ‘cold’.

Sunday April 12

Temperatures take their real plummet on Sunday, down by a further 5 degrees or so as the rain settles in for a whole day of downpours, only clearing up towards evening and making way for another sunny week ahead with temperatures swinging upwards once again.

So rain followed by rising temperatures... prepare for an onslaught of mosquitoes next week!

Thursday April 9: Min 9ºC; Max 27ºC
Friday April 10: Min 9ºC; Max 29ºC
Saturday April 11: Min 11ºC; Max 27ºC
Sunday April 12: Min 7ºC; Max 22ºC
