Stormy start to the week before temperatures rise: Alicante weather June 12-15
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued heavy rain warnings for Tuesday in Alicante province

Heavy rain looks set to return to Alicante province this week, with the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) issuing storm warnings for Tuesday June 13 in particular.
The accumulated rainfall could reach 20 litres per m2 in one hour between midday and midnight, and the likelihood of hail has not been ruled out.
From Monday afternoon onwards, the skies over the province will become cloudier, although the most unstable weather is expected the following day.
Temperatures will remain high and the high humidity will make conditions feel quite muggy.
"The remnants of the squall Oscar will take over the zonal circulation across the Iberian Peninsula and instability will continue for the next few days," explains Jorge Olcina, director of the Climatology Laboratory at the University of Alicante.
"We will continue with low pressure conditions and cold air in the upper layers. We are faced with a very unbalanced atmospheric situation when it can be sunny at dawn but in the afternoon a storm can form and discharge, as happens in tropical weather", he added.
Coastal areas can expect a cloudy start to Monday June 12, and those clouds will build momentum further inland from midday onwards. There's also a chance of occasional showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures are unlikely to change significantly and a light variable wind will tend towards southeasterly from mid-afternoon.
Alcoy: 18ºC to 28ºC
Alicante: 20ºC to 27ºC
Denia: 20ºC to 29ºC
Elche: 19ºC to 29ºC
Orihuela: 19ºC to 31ºC
Tuesday June 13 will get off to a cloudy or overcast start with showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy and with hail. Maximum temperatures will creep up slightly and a light, variable wind is forecast.
Alcoy: 16ºC to 28ºC
Alicante: 21ºC to 28ºC
Denia: 20ºC to 29ºC
Elche: 20ºC to 30ºC
Orihuela: 20ºC to 33ºC
The northern half can expect cloudy intervals on Wednesday June 14 and showers and thunderstorms have not been ruled out in the afternoon. Minimum temperatures remain unchanged but the mercury will rise during the day inland, accompanied by a light variable wind across the board.
Alcoy: 15ºC to 27ºC
Alicante: 22ºC to 28ºC
Denia: 20ºC to 29ºC
Elche: 19ºC to 29ºC
Orihuela: 19ºC to 32ºC
The outlook for Thursday June 15 is a little brighter with light cloud or clear skies forecast and highs of 32ºC. A moderate north-westerly wind will make its presence felt in the north of the province; light variable elsewhere.
Alcoy: 18ºC to 28ºC
Alicante: 22ºC to 28ºC
Denia: 20ºC to 29ºC
