Storm Laurence brings more driving rain: Spain weather forecast March 17-20
Thunderstorms and heavy downpours are forecast in most of Spain all this week

Weather outlook on Tuesday March 18
Heavy rainfall is forecast to persist across most of Spain for another week. On Monday, storm Laurence is expected to make landfall on the Portuguese coast and then move into Spain via the Gulf of Cadiz late in the evening. However, its impact will be short-lived as it is predicted to quickly dissipate once it reaches Spain, paving the way for a new storm system to develop in northwest Galicia.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued weather warnings for four regions, with the greatest risk of intense rain and thunderstorms focused on western Andalucía and southern Extremadura.
Monday March 17

As we brace ourselves for storm Laurence, Monday will be very dark and overcast throughout the country, with rain affecting most of the southwest. The heaviest downpours are forecast in western Andalucía, where the rain will likely be accompanied by thunderstorms.
The occasional small tornado could occur along the Atlantic coast.
Daytime temperatures will plummet in most of the southeast, topping out at a rather chilly 13ºC in Murcia and 14ºC in Alicante.
Tuesday March 18

An orange alert for driving rain will remain in place in Andalucía until mid-morning and yellow alerts for downpours have also been issued in the Valencian Community and Madrid.
Tuesday will still be very cloudy but the temperatures should start to climb in southern Spain, reaching 18ºC in Murcia and 20ºC in Malaga.
Wednesday March 19

Spain will be in transition on Wednesday as Laurence moves away and another front prepares to move it. It will be very cloudy or overcast throughout, with persistent rainfall in the northeast. There’s a chance of scattered showers elsewhere.
Temperatures will continue to rise across the country.
Thursday March 20

The new low pressure system will remain virtually stationary in the west of the country as it deepens, leaving mostly cloudy or overcast skies and widespread, persistent rainfall in the west. More scattered and weak rain is expected elsewhere. In general, the entire south of Spain can expect periods of heavy rain and showers.
Daytime temperatures will increase everywhere but western Spain, with maximums reaching 25ºC in Almeria.
