ARCHIVED - Stable and dry with unusually high temperatures: Alicante weather outlook Oct 24-27
Thermometers will remain in the high 20s, topping out at 30℃ in the Vega Baja area of Alicante province
Unusually high temperatures for this time of year continue across Alicante province this week, with coastal areas, in particular, in for a week of tropical nights.
According to professor of Regional Geographic Analysis and director of the Laboratory of Climatology at the University of Alicante, Jorge Olcina, "the heat at the moment, particularly at night, is not normal."
He predicts that by the end of the year, the province will have experienced 110 tropical nights, breaking a record. "This is a very striking fact because it shows the extension of the summer heat into spring and autumn. A key that explains this phenomenon, in addition to the arrival of air from North Africa, Saharan air, is the accumulated heat in the Mediterranean Sea, which remains above 24ºC," explained the professor.
Over the next few days, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has forecast stable and dry conditions, with a continuation of these warm nights.
Low cloud on Monday morning, October 24, will give way to intervals of high cloud later in the day. Temperatures are unlikely to change, remaining in the high 20s and topping out at 30℃ in parts of the Vega Baja. Light variable winds will be predominantly westerly further inland and southerly on the coast from around midday.

Tuesday October 25 will also get off to a cloudy start with morning mist along the coast; fog banks have not been ruled out in the afternoon. Minimum temperatures may decrease slightly or remain unchanged whilst maximum temperatures will rise accompanied by variable light winds, predominantly from the east and south in the afternoon.

Wednesday October 26 is shaping up much the same as Tuesday with early intervals of medium and high cloud and mist in coastal areas in the morning and late afternoon. Little change in temperatures, other than a possible slight increase in nighttime temps in the interior of the province. Light, variable winds are forecast, tending towards easterly in the afternoon.
