Spanish heatwave continue until Wednesday: Weather forecast June 30-July 3
The intense heatwave will give way to dramatic storms in large parts of Spain mid-week

Storm and heat alerts issued for Monday June 30
Spain recorded its hottest June day of all time over the weekend but as we head into a new week and a new month, change is afoot. The scorching heat is set to continue until Wednesday, when a cold front will result in a drastic drop in temperature and isolated but harsh storms, particularly inland.
Most of Spain can expect far more cloud cover and at least some showers from mid-week but in many areas, especially in the extreme south, both day and night-time temperatures will remain higher than usual as we head into July.
Monday June 30

Half the country remains on orange alert for sky-high temperatures on Monday, but these weather warnings have also been extended to storms in the likes of Cantabria, Madrid and Galicia. The weather will become gradually more unstable, with abundant cloudiness, showers and thunderstorms likely inland.
Daytime temperatures will continue to climb in the northeast, the northern Mediterranean coast and the Balearic Islands, but the rest of the country can look forward to a slight dip. Having said this, the mercury will still hit a sweltering 34ºC-36ºC in large parts of the south.
Tuesday July 1

Similar conditions are forecast on Tuesday, with low cloud cover in the Cantabrian Sea and Galicia, and clear skies elsewhere.
Maximum temperatures will drop sharply along the Cantabrian and Galician coasts, with little change elsewhere. However, temperatures will remain significantly high, exceeding 34ºC-36ºC in the northeast and the southern half of Spain.
Orange alerts for extreme heat remain in place in Andalucía, Aragon, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, Navarra, the Basque Country and La Rioja.
Wednesday July 2

A high-altitude front is expected to approach on Wednesday, bringing overcast skies and persistent rain to all of northern Spain. The showers could extend further inland but are not expected to impact the south of the country.
Meanwhile, although temperatures will drop sharply along the Atlantic coast, orange heat alerts remain active in Andalucía, Aragon, Catalonia and Extremadura, while yellow warnings have been issued in the Balearic Islands, Castilla y Leon, Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid, La Rioja, Navarra and the Valencian Community.
Thursday July 3

The passing front will continue to impact the north of Spain on Thursday with heavy rain and overcast skies, but the good news is that all of the extreme temperature warnings have been lifted.
Even so, the thermometers will still hover around 34ºC-36ºC in much of southern Spain.
