ARCHIVED - Spanish Association Against Cancer in Orihuela promotes Healthy Routes
Free weekly walks will take place throughout July in the Vega Baja, Alicante province.
Spanish Association Against Cancer in Orihuela is encouraging residents of the municipality to take part in free 'Healthy Routes' starting Wednesday, June 30, stressing that reducing risk factors, such as a sedentary lifestyle, can prevent up to 50 per cent of cancer cases.
The weekly one-hour Wednesday walks will continue throughout July, and are adapted for all ages and abilities, departing from the Glorieta Gabriel Miro at 7.30pm heading to the Palm Grove.
President of the Orihuela branch of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), Irene Celdrán, said the walks are all about promoting healthy lifestyle habits and "applying preventative strategies that could prevent up to half of diagnosed cancer cases".
There are limited places, but if there is a high demand, the association will organise several groups, "always complying with safety measures and health regulations in force".
To find out more and reserve a place on the walks, call the Infocancer number on 900 100 036.
