Spain weather forecast May 25-28: Heatwave continues with temperatures climbing towards 36°C
Most of mainland Spain will bake in clear sunny skies all week as the heat dome tightens its grip

Average temperatures expected in Spain on Thursday May 28
After weeks of unsettled weather, Spain has well and truly flipped into summer mode and there's no sign of it easing off just yet. A powerful heat dome sitting over western Europe is keeping temperatures well above average across most of the mainland and they're set to keep climbing as the week goes on.
Monday May 25

Monday gets the week off to a warm and largely sunny start, with clear or partly cloudy skies across most of Spain. The south and southwest are already feeling the heat most intensely, with Seville and other parts of Andalucía expected to hit around 35°C.
Madrid will be in the low 30s, Barcelona around 27°C and the Mediterranean coast generally sitting in the high 20s. The north will be slightly cooler, though still very warm for late May. Winds will be light across most of the country.
Tuesday May 26

Tuesday follows a very similar pattern, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures holding steady or nudging slightly higher across much of the country.
The Guadiana and Guadalquivir valleys in the south will again be among the hottest spots, with highs pushing towards 35°C or above in places. Madrid will again sit in the low 30s, and even northern cities like Bilbao and La Coruña, which have been enjoying unseasonably warm conditions, will see temperatures well above average.
Overnight temperatures across the south will stay stubbornly high, making for uncomfortable evenings in some areas.
Wednesday May 27

The heat continues to build on Wednesday, with temperatures rising further across the board. Seville and inland Andalucía are likely to be pushing 36°C, with Extremadura and parts of Castilla-La Mancha not far behind. Madrid could reach 34°C and Barcelona is expected to hit the low 30s, noticeably warmer than earlier in the week.
The skies will remain largely clear across most of the mainland, with only light winds doing little to take the edge off what will feel like a full-on summer's day across much of the country.
Thursday May 28

Thursday is shaping up to be the hottest day of the week so far, with the heat dome at its most intense over the mainland. Temperatures of 35 to 36°C are expected across a wide swathe of central and southern Spain, with Seville potentially touching 37°C. Madrid is forecast to reach around 35°C and even areas further north will be significantly warmer than you'd normally expect for the time of year.
The Canary Islands, Galicia and Asturias will see slightly more moderate conditions, but for the vast majority of the mainland it'll be another day of intense, relentless heat with clear skies and very light winds.
