ARCHIVED - Serial burglar who raided homes while occupants slept is arrested at Alicante hotel
The Armenian detainee allegedly robbed at least four houses in the Cabo de las Huertas area of Alicante city

A 38-year-old Armenian man has been arrested at a hotel in Alicante in connection with a series of burglaries at homes in the Cabo de las Huertas area of the city carried out whilst the occupants were asleep.
According to police sources, the detainee's fingerprints were found at four properties broken into within days of each other.
The suspect reportedly gained access to the family homes by scaling the fences or perimeter walls and forcing doors or breaking the windows during the early hours of the morning, taking advantage of the fact that the inhabitants of the houses were sleeping.

Specialists from Alicante Provincial Forensic Police Brigade carried out technical-police inspections and analysed several fingerprints which led them to the alleged perpetrator, a habitual offender with a number of previous convictions for similar crimes.
They also collected images from CCTV installed at two of the properties which sources claim further incriminate the suspect.
Once identified, police tracked the 38-year-old to a hotel in Alicante city centre and a surveillance operation was set up which led to his arrest.
The Armenian detainee is now in the hands of Alicante Magistrates' Court.
