September 25 to October 18 Annual fiestas in Pilar de la Horadada
An extensive programme of activities has been put together to mark the annual patron saint festivities in the Vega Baja municipality, Alicante province
Pilar de Horadada Council has organised two weeks of festivities to celebrate the annual fiestas of the Virgen del Pilar, whose feast day on 12th October is a national holiday throughout Spain, with the schedule including the following:
Friday September 25
21.00: Grand rocket launch to officially open the fiestas in front of the Town Hall, followed by a party in the Plaza de la Iglesia at 22.30 with music from Show Flama and DJ sets. Pilar de la Horadada.
Saturday September 26
21.00: Election and crowning of the fiestas queens and other dignitaries of the fiestas in the Plaza de la Iglesia, with a tribute performance to Julio Iglesias.
Sunday September 27
10.00: The 27th running of the urban mile with races for all age groups (registration 5 euros). Further information at www.asuspuestos.com until September 23rd (No registrations accepted on the day of the event).
14.00: Free portions of the typical local dish of broth with meatballs prepared by the Association of Housewives, and mille-feuille pastry for dessert at the fairground in Parque Raimundo Benedicto on Avenida Felipe VI.
19.00: Mass in the parish church.
September 28 to October 1
21.00: Bull running events at the bullring next to the fairground.
Friday October 2
22.30: Tribute concert to the group Extremo Duro at the fairground.
Saturday October 3
12.30: The start of a light-hearted bar crawl organized by the “Después te lo digo” group, setting out from the main square.
16.30: DJ sets at a party in Plaza de la Iglesia.
22.30: Isrock, a concert at the fairground.
23.30: The music continues with Papá Rajote, Porccino, and Inercia.
Sunday October 4
7.30: A dawn procession of the Rosary, setting out through the streets from the parish church.
October 5 to 7
20.00 to 23.00: Family Olympics at the Municipal Sports Centre on Avenida de la Torre.
Thursday October 8
22.30: Fancy dress party at the fairground with music from Stolen. HURSDAY 8th OCTOBER
No noise day at the fairground 18.00 to 21.00.
Friday October, 9, the regional day in the Comunidad Valenciana
14.00: Paella cooking competition followed by a hearty lunch (of course) at the fairground.
22.00: Music with singer Salva Ortega in Plaza de la Iglesia.
Saturday October 9
17.00: Crazy cars competition at the fairground.
22.00: Serenade to the Virgen del Pilar in the church square.
23.00: Music from Voy a Pasármelo G, a tribute to Hombres G, at the fairground.
23.30: The music continues with the Orquesta Nuova Vendetta and Live Panda.
Sunday October 11
18.30: The fiestas groups gather for the procession of the floral offering, starting in Calle Mayor at the junction with Calle Bascuñana. Music from Unión Musical Horadada and “Nueva Unión Musical Virgen de Fátima de San Isidro”.
19.30: The floral offering itself in Plaza de la Iglesia.
22.30: Live music with the Orquesta Etiqueta Show in Plaza de la Iglesia.
Midnight: The music continues with Vulkano Show.
Monday October 12, a national holiday throughout Spain
8.00: “La Despertá”, a morning parade through the streets of the town with the “Nueva Unión Musical Virgen de Fátima de San Isidro”.
12.00: Holy Mass in the parish church.
19.00: Holy Mass in the parish church.
20.00: Procession of the figure of the Virgen del Pilar, followed by a fireworks display next to Puente del Beso.
22.30: Live music with Femme Flow in the Plaza de la Iglesia.
Tuesday October 13
Children’s Day at the fairground, all rides €3 11.00 to 14.00 and 18.00 onwards.
19.30: Dreaming Bubbles, a children’s show at the municipal marquee in the fairground.
Saturday October 17
10.00 to 14.00 and 16.00 to 20.00: Mar Menor and Pilar de la Horadada Collectors’ Fair at the municipal marquee in the fairground site.
20.00: Grand fancy dress float parade, followed by a party with DJ sets in Plaza de la Iglesia. The parade runs along Calle Mayor from the junction with Calle San Juan to the junction with Calle José Sánchez.
Sunday October 18
10.00 to 13.30: Classic car, motorbike and lorry gathering followed by a tour around the municipality. Based on Avenida Camilo José Cela and featuring a display by the Aprilia Race Club.
10.00 to 14.00: Mar Menor and Pilar de la Horadada Collectors’ Fair at the municipal marquee in the fairground site.
11.00 Outdoor Mass in honour of the Virgen del Pilar in the Obispo Bascuñana district.
