September 13-14 Rock Against Cancer in Torrevieja
Watch great rock tribute bands play live in concert this weekend in Torrevieja, Spain
This weekend, on Friday September 13 and Saturday 14, the Rock Against Cancer (RAC) charitable rock festival will be held in Torrevieja, with the greatest rock tribute bands in Spain and Europe playing to raise money for cancer research and NGOs.
All the concerts for Rock Against Cancer 2024 will take place at the Parque Antonio Soria park and open-air events space in Torrevieja.
The weekend kicks off which RoxXxet from Switzerland playing at 6pm on Friday 13, while other groups playing include Finn Lizzy Band (a tribute to Thin Lizzy), Keeng (a tribute to Queen) and, to close the day on Friday, Quo-incidence (a tribute to Status Quo) from the UK.
On Saturday 14, the day begins with the band from Albacete, Uprising Muse Tribute; from Barcelona, Like a Stone (tribute to Audioslave and Soundgarden); and from Salou, Tarragona a tribute to Rage Against The Machine, Rage Rising.
Once of the highlights of the festival will be SAD Metallica, an Italian tribute band who “caused a great furore during their debut tour in Spain in 2023,” according to the event organisers.
The first Rock Against Cancer festival took place in 2015 and has since gone from strength to strength, raising thousands of euros for cancer charities.
The organisers said, “We would like to give special recognition to the volunteers of the Costa Blanca Rawhiders Motorcycle Association for their active and unconditional support and participation.”
The Rawhiders club members said they “are proud to be associated with it, in terms of manually assisting with the actual pre-concert physical setup from Wednesday, sets, fencing, equipment etc., and also in terms of security, car parking, crowd control and assistance generally, whilst the event is actually on, and of course, clearing up afterwards on the Sunday.”
They concluded, “It’s a great cause, having touched so many lives, some of ours too, and it’s also a great music event.”
Tickets for Rock Against Cancer cost 20 euros for just one day or 35 euros to go on both days and can be purchased online here.
The Costa Blanca Rawhiders are an active social club on the Costa Blanca and Costa Cálida, made up of Spanish and expat motorcycle enthusiasts. They hold an open day on the second Sunday of each month at their clubhouse in Callosa de Segura, and everyone is invited to come along and meet the friendly and welcoming group.
