Scorched, decapitated body discovered in Alicante
The headless and limbless corpse was found smouldering beside an Alicante road
A dismembered corpse which had been set on fire was discovered on a country road in Alicante on Monday June 17. The torso, which was missing a head, legs and arms, was spotted by a jogger in the La Serreta de Fontnivel area of the municipality.
When the startled man happened upon the mutilated body it was still smouldering. A suitcase full of clothes was lying on the ground beside it.
While a post-mortem will have to be carried out to definitively determine the sex of the victim, at the moment officials believe it is a man. Because of the extensive burning, it won’t be possible to use DNA to identify the deceased.
The National Police Corps have been searching the surrounding area for the rest of the body but have uncovered nothing as yet.
Although it doesn’t appear to be related, this incident bears an eerie resemblance to another macabre case in the Alicante town of Jijona, where the bodies of a German couple were found last month. A few days before, a farm dog dug up an arm that was later identified as belonging to the dead woman.
Back in La Serreta de Fontnivel, the early hypothesis is that this murder is gang-related.
