ARCHIVED - Ryanair cancels all flights between Liverpool and Ibiza
The airline has blamed the cancelled flights on a shortage of slots at the Spanish airport
Ryanair has dealt yet another hammer blow to holidaymakers planning a trip to Spain this year by cancelling all of its flights between Liverpool and the party island of Ibiza for summer 2022.
A Ryanair spokesperson said: “Due to a shortage of available slots at Ibiza Airport, this route from Liverpool to Ibiza will not operate for summer 2022.”
Britons hoping to get away to the Balearics on holiday, despite a controversial injunction limiting them to six drinks per day at all-inclusive resorts, will instead be forced to travel from Manchester Airport, where the budget Irish airline operates daily flights to the Spanish island during the peak summer months.
Many disgruntled travellers took to social and mainstream media to complain that they were only informed about the cancelled flight path after they had already booked their flights.
“We all got an email telling us our flights had been cancelled and we would need to rebook or get a refund, but when you look online, there are no other flights from Liverpool to Ibiza this year,” one customer said.
“Before they had flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between Liverpool and Ibiza but they are all gone,” he added.
Ryanair said that it had been forced to cancel its route between Ibiza and Liverpool due to a shortage of available slots at Ibiza Airport.
