ARCHIVED - Road improvements to the RM-311 in Cartagena for the next two months
There will be road works near the A-30 dual carriageway by El Albujón to repave and improve drainage
This week, the Region of Murcia has begun work to improve the RM-311, a regional road that runs through the Cartagena village of El Albujón. The improvement works to the RM-311 road will consist of reinforcing the road surface and pavements, as well as improving the road's drainage, replacing signposts and painting the guardrail.
Work started yesterday, Wednesday November 24, and is expected to take two months to complete, so it will be done by the beginning of next year. All of this will have a total budget of 144,000 euros.
This project aims to solve the problem of deterioration of the road surface and water run-off problems near the local doctor’s surgery in El Albujón. Specifically, work will be carried out on a 1.4 kilometre stretch of the RM-311 where it passes through the town of El Albujón up to the junction with the A-30 dual carriageway.
Environmentally sensitive construction materials
What marks this project as unique is that the tender includes criteria aimed at reusing materials and reducing energy consumption in the manufacture of the asphalt. One way road construction teams hope to achieve this is by replacing the conventional asphalt mix with a semi-warm bituminous mix, which requires less energy to manufacture.
