ARCHIVED - Renfe puts on extra trains from Cartagena to Valencia this weekend due to increased demand to visit the Fallas
The rail company has scheduled nine additional Media Distancia trains during the Fallas from Cartagena to Valencia, stopping in the capitals of Murcia and Alicante

Spanish state-owned train operator Renfe has scheduled a total of 27 special Media Distancia trains to travel to Valencia for the grand finale of the city’s world-famous Fallas festival (pictured) from Thursday March 16 until Monday March 20, and a third of those are on the Valencia-Alicante-Murcia-Cartagena route.
With these nine additional trains, which the company is putting on just so people in the region of Murcia can go up and visit the spectacular Fallas fiestas (which consist of lots of fireworks and bonfires in the streets), there will be an 3,000 more seats available on this route than normal.
To cope with the high demand there always is on the railways at the time of the Fallas festivities, this special operation is being launched to supply more seats to and from Valencia on the most important and the busiest routes, which includes from Alicante province and the Region of Murcia.
Because of the popularity of the Fallas and the difficulty of parking in Spain’s third largest city, public transport is an increasingly common alternative to driving.
