Region of Murcia attracts nearly €3 billion in investment with 94 projects underway
Plans include creation of 2,710 jobs and draw mainly from companies new to the region

A notable aspect of the current investment wave is that 77.6 percent of the projects are being led by companies new to the region. “If their implementation is confirmed, it would increase the number of entities that are betting on our Autonomous Community as the best destination for investment,” said regional minister Marisa López Aragón. This surge of new business activity highlights Murcia’s growing reputation as a prime location for economic development.
Among the most promising ventures are foreign-led projects including a fertiliser manufacturing plant, a logistics distribution centre, an aluminium beverage container factory, and a production facility for battery energy storage systems. Germany, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates stand out with four projects each now in the decision-making phase, while the United Kingdom and China also feature prominently in the portfolio.
This year alone, three projects confirmed their commitment, choosing Totana, Fuente Álamo and Lorca as their bases of operation. In addition, two projects have already been completed in Lorca: a new animal feed production facility and the relocation and expansion of a plastics recycling plant.
Collectively, these recent confirmations and completions represent a €96.6 million investment and 70 jobs created.
Since the launch of “Invest in Murcia,” a total of 1,338 projects have been pursued, with 376 confirmed, resulting in 15,452 jobs and an impressive €12.858 billion injected into the regional economy. These figures underscore Lopez Aragón’s view that Murcia’s economic freedoms and policies make it one of Spain’s most attractive locations for business growth.
A vital component of this success is the Investment Acceleration Unit (UNAI), a pioneering regional initiative that streamlines project coordination and drives promotion efforts. Up to the end of last year, UNAI had successfully processed 157 projects worth €2.684 billion, creating 4,343 jobs. Its current project portfolio includes 70 active plans valued at €2.4 billion, expected to generate 2,133 jobs.
These developments reflect Murcia’s growing profile as a hotspot for investment, with fresh business opportunities and job creation poised to shape the region’s future prosperity.

Murcia’s second biggest centro comercial has more than just shopping – it’s everything you could want from a day out!

Parque Almenara is one of the largest retail and leisure malls in the Lorca and Águilas area, offering the full ‘all under one roof’ shopping experience, except it is open to the elements!
It has all your favourite brands and shops like Stradivarius and Mango, spread out over two easily accessed levels. There is also a Carrefour, plus larger retail units for electrical products and home and garden goods.

One of the most striking features of Parque Almenara is its three canvas tents suspended 20 metres above the outdoor area, creating a shaded zone and an oasis of calm right in the middle of the mall.

And with no fewer than eight separate options to grab a bite to eat at the food court, you can stay at the Parque Almenara all day if you want to!
You can even take your dog along with you as pets are allowed into the mall, an animal-friendly place.
How to get there
Parque Almenara is located on the Lorca–Águilas road C-3211 at km 1.9. On a GPS, the coordinates to put in are: N 37º 63´ W -1º 69´
If you’re going by bus, there is a direct bus route that leaves from Apolonia.
