Rain returns to Alicante: Weather forecast Sept 30-Oct 3
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has forecast widespread rain in Alicante from Wednesday
Weather outlook on Thursday morning
Autumn has finally arrived in the Valencian Community, and with it, the unpredictable weather that comes with the season. After a scorching summer, the region is now experiencing a welcome cool-down, with temperatures dropping dramatically in just a few hours.
But that's not all - the rain is also making a comeback this week. According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), widespread rain is likely to Alicante from Wednesday onwards.
Aemet is also monitoring the path of the storm that was once tropical cyclone 'Isaac'. Although it's unlikely to directly affect the south of Spain, it's possible that it could arrive as a storm, rather than a tropical cyclone.
This week will begin on Monday September 30 with partly cloudy or clear skies and pleasant temperatures, with highs of 26ºC to 29ºC.
It might feel a little more breezy along the coast thanks to a moderate easterly wind.
As we head into a new month, the cloud cover will start to build on Tuesday October 1 but temperatures will remain largely unchanged. Today, a southerly wind will be blustery at times in coastal areas.
The skies will continue to darken on Wednesday October 2 and it will become increasingly overcast as the hours go by. Rain is forecast in the north of the province during the afternoon, but Aemet predicts that this will sweep further south later in the day.
Daytime temperatures will climb by a degree or two in most parts, hitting 35ºC in Orihuela and Elche.
Thursday October 3 will start out rather cloudy and misty but this should clear to reveal sunny spells by the end of the day. The showers of the previous day will likely spread from the northwest to the southeast.
Daytime temperatures will take a noticeable dip.
Minimum and maximum temperatures in Alicante this week
- Monday September 30: Min 14ºC; Max 29ºC
- Tuesday October 1: Min 15ºC; Max 32ºC
- Wednesday October 2: Min 18ºC; Max 35ºC
- Thursday October 3: Min 13ºC; Max 31ºC
