Rain, storms and more cold: Spain weather forecast September 22-25
A radical change in the weather is coming to Spain this week with far more autumnal conditions

Weather warnings for storms/heavy rain on Tuesday September 23
Spain has gone from summer to autumn seemingly overnight. During the weekend, a front swept in that brought violent storms and widespread flooding to the north of the country, and further south there’s definitely a new crispness in the early morning air.
During the next few days, that cold front will continue to move south, bringing with it the possibility of more intense storms in the north, northeast and the Balearic Islands. Meteorologists will also be keeping a close eye on the remnants of Hurricane Gabrielle, which could approach northern Spain later in the week.
Monday September 22

Overcast skies will continue to dominate northern Spain today where locally heavy rainfall is forecast in eastern coastal areas and the Balearics.
Above 1,800-2,000 metres, the first snowflakes are possible in the Pyrenees.
A widespread drop in temperature is expected, particularly in the south.
Yellow alerts for rain, storms and rough sea conditions have been activated by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in Asturias, the Balearics, Cantabria, Catalonia and the Basque Country.
Tuesday September 23

A new high pressure system should lead to calmer conditions in western Spain on Tuesday but the instability will persists along the Mediterranean coasts. Partly cloudy skies are expected, except in the far north, where a humid northerly flow will lead to low cloud cover and rain.
The north of the Balearic Islands will be hit with more heavy downpours and there’s a possibility of showers and thunderstorms throughout the southeast.
Daytime temperatures will take another dip along the Mediterranean coast.
Yellow weather warnings are in place in the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, the Region of Murcia and the Valencian Community.
Wednesday September 24

While the forecast is still a little uncertain, it looks as though a low pressure zone is likely to move in from southeast France and hit the west of Spain on Wednesday. This will lead to largely cloudy skies and rain ranging from light drizzle to persistent showers in coastal areas.
Daytime temperatures will continue to fall along the Mediterranean coast, in the northwest of Spain and in the Canary Islands, with slight increases expected elsewhere.
Thursday September 25

A subtropical, humid front to the south, southeast and the Balearic Islands will result in cloudy skies with occasional clear spells throughout Thursday.
Generally light rain is expected along the Mediterranean coast and in the Balearic Islands, while showers with thunderstorms are not ruled out around the Sierra Nevada. In the Canary Islands, cloudy intervals with light precipitation are expected on the higher-elevation islands.
Maximum temperatures will rise across the board.
