Property on the Mar Menor Golf Resort, Torre Pacheco
Property on the Mar Menor Golf Resort
Situated around the 18-hole golf course, landscaped gardens and various on-site facilities are 924 villas, 184 townhouses and 1,150 apartments, all designed by acclaimed architect Melvin Villarroel.
The land on which Mar Menor Golf Resort is built is part of the Campo de Cartagena, and is therefore very flat, but an effort has been made to make the most of the few undulations and the result is a pleasant environment.
The roads are almost all curved rather than straight, and each residential area is like a separate wing branching off from the central area of the resort. This can make it quite frustrating to drive from one zone to another, and bicycles are an attractive alternative, especially as the terrain is so flat!
All properties are designed to maximize the feeling of space, and there are community pools serving each area of apartments. The architecture reflects traditional Mediterranean features, with overhanging roofs and decorative turrets, but the front garden layout in the villas owes far more to American traditions.
There are no garden fences, hedges or walls at the front of properties, which will come as a surprise to many Britons and Spaniards, but the effect of this is to increase the feeling of space. After all, the villa gardens themselves are actually quite small, and the distance between one house and another is actually not that great.
Apart from the central pool areas in the hotel and social club many of the villas also have their own small pool, so there are plenty of chances to cool off during the heat of the day.
The resort is spacious, and although villa gardens are small and not very private the streets are wide and pleasant. Apart from those on El Boulevard, the apartment blocks also have their own communal gardens. The whole resort is extremely well maintained, and there is a constant flow of cleaning and maintenance staff throughout the resort.
Security is provided by both entrances being gated, and there are also regular security patrols around the development throughout the day.
The area is divided into five residential zones: for example the La Loma and El Rincón apartments are 1, 2 and 3-bedroomed properties with views over the golf course, lakes and tropical gardens.
The course is not set at one end of the development but is the central feature, so no property is far from ample green areas, and a comprehensive network of pedestrian walkways and cycle paths interconnects the residential areas, swimming pools, children’s play areas and the course itself.
Children’s play areas are dotted around the whole development, and no property is far from a slide and swings.
