Pilar de la Horadada will close all its beaches for one night
The Alicante beaches will be off-limits to the public while maintenance work is carried out
All beaches in the municipality of Pilar de la Horadada will be closed to visitors from 10pm on Wednesday August 14 until 6am on Thursday August 15.
According to the council, workers will be spreading new sand and levelling the surfaces so that the shores are in “perfect condition” for the remainder of the summer season. The authorities have decided to carry out this vital maintenance overnight to avoid as much disruption as possible.
This, of course, means that a moonlit stroll is out the question but it shouldn’t impact too many people. Unless, of course, a certain early bird has travelled to Pilar from Torrevieja. This dedicated sun worshiper was caught on camera setting up his deck chair and umbrella on Playa del Cura at 5.36am, really a step too far to secure the very best beach spot.
Back in Pilar de la Horadada, following a few unfortunate incidents over the summer, the council has taken this opportunity to remind locals and visitors that the consumption of alcoholic beverages is not permitted on public streets, in accordance with the provisions of article 4 of the Ordinance on the Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages published in BOP number 240 dated October 18, 2000.
In addition, lighting fires in all types of open spaces is prohibited until October 17, 2024, in accordance with the forestry regulations of the Valencian Community.
