ARCHIVED - Pensioner saved from drowning by ambulance team in Torrevieja
The incident happened on Playa del Cura in the Alicante province
Drowning is an all-too-common incident on Spanish coasts during the summer, despite local authorities’ attempts to prevent the tragedies, but fortunately, one bather in Torrevieja who ran into difficulty in the water was able to be saved by the emergency services.
The incident happened at the beginning of this week on Playa del Cura in the Vega Baja, when the emergency services received a call alerting them that an elderly man had been pulled unconscious from the sea.
Lifeguards began basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques until the SAMU ambulance arrived and then the medical team took over with advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other stabilization methods, thankfully managing to save the man from cardiorespiratory arrest.
After being stabilized at the scene, the 78-year-old pensioner was taken to the Torrevieja hospital in an advanced life support ambulance.
