Ouigo adds more summer trains between Madrid and Málaga
Between June and September, Ouigo will run 8 daily trains from the Costa del Sol

Low-cost rail operator Ouigo has just released the exciting news that it’s adding more options for summer travel between Madrid and Málaga. From June 30 to September 14, the company will run four extra services on this popular route to help meet the high-season demand.
From next month, there will be two new trains in each direction, giving passengers more flexibility when heading to or from the Costa del Sol.
In a statement, Federico Pareja, Ouigo’s Sales and Marketing Director, said the new services between Madrid, Málaga and Córdoba help the company offer affordable high-speed travel while supporting sustainability and improving national connectivity.
The French rail company, which started operating from Málaga earlier this year in direct competition with Renfe, Spain’s state-owned operator, now offers eight daily trains between Madrid and Málaga. That means four trains in each direction every day.
The new departures from Madrid’s Atocha station are scheduled for 11.08am and 7.50pm, with stops in Córdoba at 1.02pm and 9.44pm. On the return, trains leave Málaga-María Zambrano station at 7.25am (stopping in Córdoba at 8.17am) and 3.35pm, with the latter going straight through to Madrid.
These new options are in addition to the existing four daily trains on this route. The regular Madrid departures are at 7.19am and 3.23pm and from Málaga at 11.15am and 7.50pm.
Ouigo is the most recent player to join the high-speed rail scene from Málaga, following Renfe’s budget option Avlo and the Italian company Iryo, which both launched services last year. These join the long-established AVE route connecting the Costa del Sol with the Spanish capital.
Ouigo first entered the Spanish market in 2021, using high-capacity, double decker trains with 509 seats spread over the two levels.
