ARCHIVED - Orihuela launches its Christmas Toy Appeal
The Alicante town's toy collection campaign to bring festive cheer to less fortunate children will run until January 4
Orihuela Town Hall has launched its annual Christmas Toy Appeal and placed five collection containers across the municipality so that anyone who wishes to make a donation can do so.
The festive initiative, under the slogan “Aquí jugamos tod@s. Regala un juguete y comparte ilusión', (Here we all play. Give a toy as a gift and share hope), is a joint scheme in collaboration with neighbourhood associations in Orihuela, to ensure every child gets a gift over the Christmas period.
Toy collection containers have been placed at the town hall, Palacio del Agua, Casa de la Juventud (youth centre), Teatro Circo and the Biblioteca Municipal María Moliner to collect toys, which will be distributed to children during the traditional Three Kings' Festival on Jauary 6.
"Collection bins have specifically been placed in these last two public places to take advantage of crowds expected to attend cultural activities over the Christmas season. We encourage all citizens to participate in this campaign to collect toys so that the Three Kings can reach all the homes of Orihuela with their gifts and dreams," explained councillor Mar Ezcurra.
