ARCHIVED - Orihuela hosts 12-hour fundraising Ukraine Fest: Saturday April 2
Proceeds will go to the Ukrainian Association of Orihuela which is assisting refugees fleeing their war-torn home country
Orihuela Town Hall is staging Ukraine Fest on Saturday April 2, a packed programme of music and activities to raise funds for the Ukrainian Association of Orihuela which is assisting refugees forced to flee their home country following Russia's invasion.
The solidarity festival will be held at the Glorieta Gabriel Miró from 11 am to 11 pm and "aims to raise funds for this association that has been helping all the displaced Ukrainians fleeing the horror of war in their country since the conflict began", explained Councillor for Culture and Youth, Mar Ezcurra.
More than a dozen volunteers from the Ukraine Association will manage a "solidarity bar" that will be open throughout the day to generate much-needed cash.
"We have put together a varied programme of fun entertainment for the whole family to suit all tastes with the objective of bringing everyone together and helping those who need us the most at the moment," added the culture councillor.
In addition, an information point will be set up during the festival to explain how all the money raised will be managed, offer advice and explain how people can help.
The Ukraine Fest line-up is as follows:
11am to 2.30pm: Children's party with inflatables, children's workshops, music and performances, as well as a charity market.
1pm: Disco with DJ David Rodriguez.
2pm: Concert with Orihuela rapper Abram.
5pm: Local band, Los Happys, kick off an afternoon of entertainment including DJ Agustín Cascales, "an Orihuela native and town crier for the festivities".
