Operation Christmas Child proves a big success in Águilas
Águilas community donates 621 Christmas shoeboxes for children in need

Operation Christmas Child wrapped up its local campaign in Águilas recently. This is one of the world’s biggest Christmas campaigns, where they send millions of shoeboxes filled with gifts to children in vulnerable situations. This year, Águilas received 621 of these shoeboxes packed with items like school supplies, hygiene products and, of course, toys.
The official collection point at the Evangelical Baptist Church of Águilas in the Guadalentín area announced the success of the Christmas campaign. They also added that they received an increase of around 200 shoeboxes compared to last year.
In Spain, the entire project is coordinated by the Evangelical Association Decisión, and everyone pitches in from local schools, companies, associations, Catholic parishes and non-religious organisations.
Reaching children all over the world
All of the shoeboxes packed with goodies collected in Murcia, Cartagena and Molina de Segura have already been transported to Madrid. From there, they will join thousands of others from all over Spain. From Madrid, they will be transported to Equatorial Guinea, North Africa, Romania, and Ukraine where they will reach children who really need them.
Operation Christmas Child continues to grow every year. They now deliver more than 12 million shoeboxes to over 100 countries worldwide and the people of Águilas play a part in this global success. Even though prices continue to rise and more and more families are struggling with the cost of Christmas, they still find a way to help vulnerable children throughout the world.
