One dead and several injured in car accident on A-7 near Alhama de Murcia
Six vehicles were involved in the early morning crash in Murcia this weekend

A tragic accident on the A-7 motorway near Alhama de Murcia in the early hours of Sunday morning, March 9, has left one person dead and six others injured.
The crash, which involved six vehicles, occurred on the road going in the direction of Murcia city and was reportedly triggered by one of the cars, according to witness accounts provided to emergency services.
At approximately 7am, the Emergency Coordination Centre 112 received more than a dozen calls alerting them to the incident. Witnesses reported multiple injuries and stated that one of the vehicles had overturned, trapping its occupant inside. As a result, the fire brigade of the Consorcio de Extinción de Incendios y Salvamento de la Región de Murcia (CEIS) was deployed to the scene.
Emergency response teams, including two ambulances with medical staff from 061, a transfer ambulance, and several patrols from the Guardia Civil, were quickly mobilised. Despite their efforts, medics were unable to save the life of the deceased victim, a man whose identity has not been disclosed.
Among the injured, two women and two 19-year-old men were treated for minor contusions at the scene. A 39-year-old man sustained multiple injuries and was transported to La Arrixaca hospital in Murcia for further treatment. Additionally, a 51-year-old man made his way to a healthcare centre independently.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
