October 12-15: Moors and Christians fiesta in El Campello, Alicante
Experience the magic of medieval tradition in Alicante this October weekend
The Moors and Christians Fiesta, a spectacular celebration of music, dance and culture, is already well underway in the Alicante town of El Campello, but the best is yet to come.
This year’s festivities have been declared a Festival of Tourist Interest and the celebrations promised to be packed full of parades, processions, markets and concerts.
Main events
- Saturday October 12: The big day of the festivities, with the Moorish landing on the beach of Carrer la Mar at dawn, and the great parade of Moors and Christians in the afternoon.
- Sunday October 13: The Christian Embassy at the Festero Castle and the Mora-Christian entrance in the evening.
- Monday October 14: The Solemn Mass in honour of the Virgen of the Forsaken and the ‘Entraeta’ party in the afternoon.
- Tuesday October 15: The offering of flowers and fruit to the Virgen of the Forsaken, and the final ‘mascletà’ in the Plaza de la Constitución.
Live music performances will be held in the Plaza de la Constitución throughout the week, and a huge fireworks display will take place on the final night of the festivities.
Medieval Market
From October 8 to 13, don't miss the Medieval Market in the Plaza de la Constitución and surrounding streets, where you can find traditional food, drinks and crafts.
The Moors and Christians Fiesta is a unique and exciting event that you won't want to miss.
