October 1 Murcia hosts its very own Invictus Games this autumn
The third edition of the solidarity race will take place in Murcia’s Sangonera la Verde district

Following in the footsteps of Prince Harry, the Natural Fitness Gym in Murcia city is hosting its very own version of the famous ‘Invictus Games’ on Sunday October 1. This is the third time the sporting event has been run and it’s been drawing more and more participants each year.
The race will start from the Plaza de la Iglesia de Sangonera la Verde at 10am and the 5 kilometre circuit will cover all of the main roads of the district. The Invictus competition is part of the wider ‘Run for Murcia’ project, a series of solidarity races that are held in 19 different towns of the municipality.
Councillor for Sports Miguel Ángel Noguera explains that "public-private collaboration is essential for Murcia to become a sporting benchmark in all disciplines and to be a pole of attraction for sports lovers."
Once all participants cross the finish line there will be a post-race celebration with refreshments and, of course, an award ceremony where the trophies will be handed out. Attendees will also have the chance to take part in a Zumba master class.
The Invictus race is an event open to all amateur sports fans and participants can run or walk.
In addition to the fundraising race itself, which will feature 400 runners, the organisers will set up a non-perishable food collection point for Cáritas Parroquial de Sangonera la Verde.
