ARCHIVED - November 27: Alicante Father Christmas Race La Florida for all the family
The free festive event is organised by the Association of United Traders of Alicante (ACUA) and the city council

Cosied up on the sofa with a chocolate selection box and a heartwarming Christmas movie is one way to spend Sunday November 27, but Alicante City Council and the local traders' association are offering a fun and sporting alternative for all the family to enjoy.
The 5th Father Christmas Popular Race La Florida will take place in Alicante this weekend, starting from the Plaza La Viña and following a wide route that joins the neighbourhoods of La Florida with Portazgo and Ciudad de Asís crossing the Avenida de Orihuela.
More than 500 runners, walkers and children took part in the last Father Christmas race, and it's hoped even more people will participate this year with the chance to bag vouchers to exchange in local stores being given away by co-organisers, the Association of United Traders of Alicante (ACUA).
"The aim is to fill the shopping streets of La Florida with the illusion of Christmas with a family sports Sunday. We want to invite everyone to attend this popular race that in past editions has been a huge success", said Councillor for Commerce, Lidia López.
The first 200 adults and 50 children to complete the race in their categories will also be given free T-shirts, and there will be festive workshops for the youngsters.
Bib numbers can be collected between 8.15am and 9.15am on Sunday morning, and identification will be required. The start of the 5K Absolute and Andarines categories is scheduled for 10am, and later, at 11am the race for children aged between two and 15 will take place.
