ARCHIVED - New weekly markets for Los Urrutias and El Albujón
An off-season Saturday market in Los Urrutias complements the Saturday event during the summer
The Town Hall of Cartagena has officially given its approval for the addition of two more weekly markets to the list of those which are already held in the municipality, one on the shore of the Mar Menor in Los Urrutias and the other further inland in El Albujón.
This decision has now been confirmed after no objections were raised following the initial approval in September.
As a result of the new modification of the municipal regulations surrounding street vendors, the town of El Albujón will hold a weekly market every Tuesday during the year with 19 stalls, while in Los Urrutias the modification means the addition of a Saturday market with 64 stalls during the off season. Until now Los Urrutias has had a market on Thursday morning only during the summer (from June 30 to September 16, with 100 stalls).
The period for applying to be assigned a patch at the new markets will open shortly.
