ARCHIVED - New tourist map presented for the west of Cartagena
The area covered includes Cabo Tiñoso, Isla Plana, la Azohía, El Portus, Perín, Cuesta Blanca, Galida, Tallante and Los Puertos de Santa Bárbara
Tourism in Cartagena is dominated, of course, by the Mar Menor and Mediterranean beaches and the ancient historic sites in the city itself, but the Town Hall has now presented the draft of a long overdue tourist map of the west of the municipality, including the headland of Cabo Tiñoso, which includes far more than the seafront.
The area covered by the map encompasses not only Cabo Tiñoso and the coastal villages of Isla Plana, la Azohía and El Portus, but also the whole of the nature reserve including inland villages and towns such as Perín, Cuesta Blanca, Galida, Tallante and Los Puertos de Santa Bárbara, and outlying areas of the city of Cartagena such as Tentegorra, Canteras and Molinos Marfagones. Marked on the map are 87 places of natural impotance (including beaches), 37 sites of cultural interest and heritage, 59 eateries, 86 services, and 21 establishments offering accommodation.
The map is now open to review for a period of 7 days so that other establishments can suggest corrections or request their inclusion, and suggestions should be sent to info@oestecartagena.org.
The map can be seen using the QR code below.
The aim of the “Oeste Cartagena” project is to highlight the cultural and environmental features of the area (which covers almost 200 square kilometres and is home to around 18,000 people) and raise its profile among both visitors and those resident in other parts of the large municipality of Cartagena.
