ARCHIVED - New street lights to be installed on the Lorca road from Ronda Sur to Parque Almenara
The RM-11 road to the Lorca shopping centre is to get over 50 new lampposts, costing near 100,000 euros
Work has begun to install streetlamps to light up the service road connecting Ronda Sur with the Parque Almenara Shopping Centre in Lorca.
The Councillor for Pedanías of Lorca City Council, Antonio Navarro, said, “We have started work to install street lighting on the RM-11 service road, on the section from the Ronda Sur roundabout to the Parque Almenara Shopping Centre.”
As Councillor Navarro explained, “This involves the installation of lighting on the popular lane that many residents use to walk from the roundabout at the start of the motorway to the entrance to the esplanade of the shopping centre next to the petrol station.
“We are going to install a total of 52 street lights on this road, a stretch of 1.9 kilometres in length, for which Lorca City Council is going to invest 95,033 euros under the Pedanías Plan.
“The lighting of this road, which is much used for sports by the people who live in Lorca, was a longstanding request which we in the government team have wanted to undertake as soon as possible in order to improve this popular leisure area and provide it with lighting to ensure coexistence between motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.”
