Murcia weekly weather forecast July 22-28: Heatwave passes but heat remains
This week will be slightly cooler than last week, though not by much
It was a hot weekend in Murcia, with towns such as Molina de Segura, Calasparra, Archena, Totana and Alhama de Murcia all registering temperatures over 40ºC in the heatwave, according to measurements recorded by State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) weather stations.
And, while this hot and sunny weather is not going to stop any time soon, this week’s forecast is for slightly cooler temperatures that, while still remaining up in the mid- to high-30s, are thankfully not expected to breach 40ºC.
It will still be very sunny, with some cloud cover coming and going across the week but no rain forecast at all.
Aemet forecasts only “light winds” for this week, mainly easterlies that are weaker inland and slightly stronger on the coast, but only up to a “moderate” 25kmh or so.
Thankfully, last week’s calima Saharan dust, which was hanging around in the air and making the air quality worse, will not be present this week. Due to its ability to trap heat near the ground, when there is calima it can actually feel hotter than normal.
It will still be very hot, though, with maximum temperatures reaching up to 37-38ºC in central Murcia during the day and 32-34ºC on the coast.
At night, it will not drop much below 20ºC in most places, though the north and northwest of the Region of Murcia could be lucky enough to have nights where thermometers register just 17 or 18ºC.
When the weather is this hot, it’s important to stay hydrated, keep out of the midday sun and wear plenty of protection – meaning a cap, sun cream and light clothing.
