Murcia Corvera Airport will have flights to Madrid and Barcelona from this November
It is part of a concerted effort to boost the Region’s tourist profile and transport links

As of November 2023, there will be flights connecting the International Airport of the Region of Murcia with Madrid and Barcelona.
The President of the Region of Murcia, Fernando Miras López, made the announcement this Saturday, and while “the contract to establish” these new flight routes has yet to be formalised the idea is that there will be two return flights each week to and from both cities, with the Spanish airline Volotea.
It comes shortly after Murcia’s connection with the Spanish capital was significantly sped up thanks to arrival of the high-speed AVE trains in December 2022.
The last time there were flights between Murcia and Madrid was six years ago, and these new connections have apparently been under discussion for months now.
According to Miras, “This historic demand has been fulfilled and will undoubtedly be a definitive boost for the tourism sector.”
However, there are still questions over the deficient public transport links connecting Corvera Airport with the rest of the Region of Murcia and for many foreign travellers there are not nearly enough international destinations available.
