More rain and thunderstorms ahead this weekend: Alicante weather May 25-28
A second DANA will bring another mix of wet, windy and stormy conditions to Alicante province this weekend
Alicante province has taken a battering this week with persistent heavy rain and storms leading to widespread flooding thanks to the arrival of a DANA (an isolated depression at high levels) at the beginning of the week. Torrential rain has wreaked havoc with floods causing temporary school and road closures and stretching emergency service resources.
And while conditions are not expected to be quite so unstable or reach 'pre-emergency' levels, as was the case on Tuesday, the arrival of a second DANA from France looks set to bring another cocktail of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms from midday on Thursday May 25.
Cloudy intervals will evolve from mid-morning on Thursday increasing to heavy cloud or overcast skies. From midday, locally heavy showers are expected, with thunderstorms and possible hail, particularly further inland. Minimum temperatures will remain unchanged with highs rising in the south. A light variable wind will tending towards easterly at noon.

The outlook for Friday May 26 is predominantly cloudy with probability of showers, mostly inland, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms. Nighttime temperatures will continue to rise and remain in the low to mid-20s during the day. An easterly wind will feel more blustery on the coast.
Alcoy: 12°C to 20°C Alicante: 17°C to 22°C Denia: 15°C to 22°C Elche: 16°C to 23°C Orihuela: 16°C to 24°C
Intervals of low cloud in the early hours of Saturday May 27 will persist until midday with skies likely to remain overcast into the afternoon in the south; high clouds in the north. Rain is forecast in the south in the morning, and in inland areas from noon. Minimum temperatures remain pretty much unchanged and rising highs, especially in the north of the province. Winds from the east and northeast will be moderate on the coast and light elsewhere.

On Sunday May 28, the province can expect predominantly cloudy skies with showers and thunderstorms, which could be locally very strong. The mercury will fall, especially in the interior. Winds from the east and northeast will be light, with moderate intervals in southern coastal areas.
