March 22 Savour the flavours of Alhaurín el Grande at the Cachorreña festival
Join the festivities on Saturday March 22 for a day of traditional cuisine, live performances and community spirit

Culinary Delights
The festivities commence at midday with an artisan market showcasing a diverse array of local products and traditional crafts. At 2pm, the Alhaurín el Grande Town Council invites attendees to a complimentary tasting of two signature dishes: cachorreñas and mojete alhaurino.
Cachorreña is a traditional soup featuring the slightly tart cachorreña orange, combined with stale bread and salted fish. Mojete alhaurino is a refreshing salad made with orange, boiled potatoes, cod and olives, embodying the rich flavours of Málaga's culinary heritage.
Entertainment and Activities
The festival's vibrant atmosphere is further enhanced by live performances. At 1pm, the Pepa Manzanares Dance Academy will present a show blending rhythm and tradition. Following this, from 2.30pm, flamenco artists Fausto Jiménez and Ismael Chicano will captivate audiences with their passionate performances, filling the historic streets with authentic Andalusian spirit.
Community and Charity
Demonstrating a strong commitment to community support, the festival includes a charity ham and wine tasting throughout the morning. Organised by the 'Amigos del Vino' association and 'Plaza Gourmet Artesanos del Jamón', this initiative aims to raise funds for local organisations such as Aprodal Alhaurín, the Alhmer Association and Un Sí Por La Vida-Unidos Contra el Cáncer. For younger attendees, a dedicated children's play area ensures that families can fully enjoy the day's festivities.
