March 1 to 8 Carnival 2025 in Cehegín
The biggest Carnival celebration in the north-west of the Region of Murcia!
As ever the town of Cehegín in north-western Murcia is preparing to hold the most important Carnival celebrations in the area, with parades, a masked ball and general revelry all poised to mark the beginning of Lent!
The schedule for the week of Carnival is as follows:
Saturday March 1, the “Carnavatón”!
This popular fun run is for “athletes” accompanied by their pet dogs or cats, with donations accepted for local animal protection organizations.
11.30 to 12.00: Registration and handing out of race numbers in Parque Ginés Ibáñez (free of charge with donations of pet food accepted).
12.30: The race itself takes place in Parque Ginés Ibáñez.
18.00: DJ music begins.
19.00: Live entertainment from Las PilarDos.
20.30: Prizes are awarded to Best Mask winners.
22.00 to 22.30: Registrations for the Grand Mask competition at the municipal marquee in Gran Vía, with prizes of up to 300 euros at stake.
Sunday March 2
11.00: The Children’s Parade sets off from Calle San Agustín along Calle el Convento, Carretera de Murcia and Gran Vía to the municipal marquee, where a fun park show awaits the youngsters until 14.30 and again from 16.00 to 18.00.
Photocalls are held with popular cartoon characters Bluey and Bingo (12.30 to 13.15), Marshall and Rubble (13.45 to 14.30) and Mario Bros and Mickey (16.30 to 17.15)-
Tuesday March 4
16.30: Viva el Carnival, a show for children at their mask competition.
21.00: The Mayoress welcomes guests to the Masked Ball in the Palacio de los Fajardo.
22.00: “Guateque” party with “Lunch” in Plaza “Eras Viejas”.
Saturday March 8
17.00: The “Grito de Salida” marks the start of the Grand Carnival Parade at the Palacio de los Fajardo.
17.30: The parade begins in earnest. Route: Plaza del Castillo, Calle Mayor, Mesoncico, López Chicheri, Cuesta del Parador, Carretera de Murcia, Plaza del Alpargatero, Gran Vía.
21.30: La Freska with a show combining pop music of the 2000s with current hits and the participation of personalities such as Lady Gaga, Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson and others! Venue: the municipal marquee on Gran Vía.
