Luton Airport fire: Check if your flight to Spain has been suspended
Flights from Luton to Spain and all other destinations should resume at noon on Wednesday October 11
All flights to and from London’s Luton Airport have been temporarily cancelled on Wednesday October 11 after a massive fire ripped through the car park at Terminal 2, leading to “partial structural collapse”.
Firefighters are still battling to bring the flames under control but the airport issued a statement early on Wednesday morning indicating that flights should be up and running again by noon or early afternoon.
“Emergency services continue to respond to a significant fire in Terminal Car Park 2, which has resulted in partial structural collapse,” Luton Airport officials reported on social media.
“All flights are suspended until 3pm on Wednesday 11th October, please contact your airline for the latest flight information.
“Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport at this time, as access remains severely restricted.”
Efforts are still ongoing to extinguish a serious fire at Luton Airport. We are continuing to protect surrounding airport infrastructure, vehicles and the Luton DART. The East of England ambulance service said one member of the public and six firefighters were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
There are also significant delays on the M1 motorway in the area on Wednesday morning.
