La Playa del Espejo in Los Alcazares to become even more accessible for everyone
New improvements will upgrade the beach's facilities, including walkways, adapted showers, shaded areas and fully accessible information

The Town Hall of Los Alcázares is set to improve and expand the accessible beach facilities at La Playa del Espejo, making it easier for everyone to enjoy the beach safely and independently.
The plan comes after a detailed review by the Technical Accessibility Office of the Region of Murcia, part of FAMDIF/COCEMFE. They looked at the current disabled-friendly beach area and identified what could be upgraded to provide a better experience for visitors. The upgrades will make the beach easier to use for all visitors, including those with mobility, sensory or cognitive needs.
Work will include a full update of the public toilet, continuous walkways down to the water, more shaded areas, a new accessible foot shower with an adapted shower exclusively for people with disabilities, extra adaptive beach equipment and a fully accessible information panel featuring easy-to-read text, braille, pictograms and digital communication support tools.

“We're always looking at ways to make our beaches more accessible. We listen to what people need and respond with practical improvements that make visiting the beach safer and more comfortable,” says María José Díaz, Councillor for Tourism and Beaches.
The project has a budget of €39,345.13. It’s part of a regional programme that supports municipalities in modernising and improving tourist areas while promoting accessible tourism. Most of the funding comes from the Regional Government of Murcia, with the town contributing 26%.
“Our aim is for everyone to enjoy the beach safely, comfortably and with dignity, and that's exactly what we're working towards,” adds Díaz.
