King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia congratulate Carava de la Cruz on the 2024 Holy Jubilee Year
Following the official end of the 2024 Holy Jubilee Year in Caravaca de la Cruz the city is to receive a royal visit on Thursday February 6, when King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia plan to congratulate local dignitaries on the success of the event.
Commeting on the news, Mayor José Francisco García says that being able to welcome the Head of State is a cause of “great pride and joy which are shared by all the natives and residents of Caravaca”. Also present on the day will be Fernando López-Miras, the leader op the regional government of Murcia.
This is the second time that Felipe and Letizia have come to Caravaca after their visit in November 2017, during the previous Holy Jubilee Year, when the King’s accession to the throne was still relatively recent. Prior to that, his parents, Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofía, visited twice, first in 1974 before the death of Franco and the restoration of the Monarchy, and again in March 1980.
During their visit on February 6 it is anticipated that the King and Queen will see the “El Siglo de Tegeo” exhibition at the former church of La Compañía de Jesús and also the Basilica of the True Cross.
